Inventions
Human knowledge turned into tools, machines, and systems.
SciMu 1.1.12 · Built in public
SciMu is a growing online-first science museum where knowledge can be explored through many pathways: species, biomes, laws & principles, inventions, phenomena, materials, places, timelines, questions, people, and original exhibits.
Ten pathways
Each SciMu page can connect across multiple pathways, so an orca can lead to oceans, sound, evolution, conservation, laws & principles, and original exhibits.
Life by organism, from orcas and octopuses to redwoods and insects.
Living environments: forests, oceans, grasslands, deserts, tundra, wetlands, and more.
Nature by pattern, process, cycle, principle, rule, and equation.
Human knowledge turned into tools, machines, and systems.
Things people observe first: tides, storms, rainbows, sound, fire.
The stuff of the universe: water, carbon, DNA, glass, silicon, air.
Science by habitat, biome, planet, environment, and location.
Deep time, Earth history, life history, invention, medicine, and space.
Curiosity-led entrances into the museum.
Scientists, educators, inventors, knowledge keepers, explorers, and learners.
SciMu’s original curated experiences and signature concepts.
Main Entrance Interior Direction Studies
These visual studies were generated with ChatGPT as part of SciMu’s public design process. The prompt explored non-Bauhaus architectural movements from the 1960s onward, including Metabolism, High-Tech / Structural Expressionism, Postmodernism, and Deconstructivism. The goal was not to choose a final building, but to imagine how the Internet Science Museum might feel from the inside.
Help build SciMu
SciMu is looking for founding department leads and collaborators who want to help shape a public science museum for the internet. Scientists, educators, professionals, enthusiasts, artists, writers, designers, and future museum builders are invited to help imagine what this can become.
