SciMu is an online-first science museum where the same knowledge can be explored through many pathways: departments, wings, exhibits, timelines, geography, age, careers, species, laws, big questions, and original learning experiences.
Built in public
SciMu 1.1.12 is not pretending to be finished. It is an early theme prototype for a museum that can grow over many versions, with design studies, experimental pages, regular blog posts, and invitations for people to help shape the project.
The long-term direction includes a Science Index, curated exhibits, future concept artwork, guided visual tours, educational resources, and eventually a fuller style guide.
I am brainstorming and iterating with ChatGPT versions of the SciMu WordPress theme to help streamline the process of adding individual pages to the Internet Science Museum, such as pages for species, biome, scientific laws and more.
Here is an infographic of my idea for the future of the Internet Science Museum. SciMu can primarily exist as an online resource for the whole world, while there can be highly-functional physical locations to access the internet, and SciMu in particular, in a most robust and comprehensive way.
The early typography plan uses Venryn Sans for interface text, Clayborn for dramatic exhibit titles, Itim for guided notes, Kelvinch for scholarly labels with ligatures disabled, and EB Garamond 12 Regular for large species hero titles.
